Juha Janger design, based on old shaman drum drawings.

This is a gorgeous design by Juha Janger for Taiga Jewelry! Design is based on old shaman drum drawings.

Story behind The God of Thunder:

Sami people believed The God of Thunder: carried a hammer in order to strike evil spirits. He was believed to give life to humans, look after their health and attend to the dying. The God of Thunder was called the 'Cloud Spirit,' believed to be able to cleanse the air of illness.

The Sámi people are one of the indigenous people of Scandinavia. Sami homeland reaches from Central Norway and Sweden through the northernmost part of Finland and into the Kola Peninsula. Culturally and economically, reindeer herding is the most important source of income for the Sami.

Living of the nature has formed the original conceptions of the world among Sámi; the world view was animistic by nature, with shamanistic features. They believed that all objects in the nature had a soul. Therefore, everybody was expected to move quietly in the wilderness; shouting and making disturbance was not allowed. This beautiful concept still prevails among the Sámi.

Has silver purity 925 and designer's JAN stamp.
