This piece is designed and made by Famous Scandinavian (Finnish) Designer Juha Janger. The quality IS Marvelous and obvious! Janger has won "The Goldsmith of the year award " by the Finnish Association of Goldsmiths. His work is known and highly respected all around Europe, Japan and Australia.
Janger has studied old shaman drums for this design honoring the rich heritage of Sami people. Samis believed that bears enjoyed a special communion with the gods. Bears were often requested to chase away evil spirits and help provide a good hunting season.
The Sámi people are one of the indigenous people of Scandinavia. There are over 75000 Sami in the Sami homeland, which reaches from Central Norway and Sweden through the northernmost part of Finland and into the Kola Peninsula. Culturally and economically, reindeer herding is the most important source of income for the Sami.
Living of the nature has formed the original conceptions of the world among Sámi; the world view was animistic by nature, with shamanistic features. They believed that all objects in the nature had a soul. Therefore, everybody was expected to move quietly in the wilderness; shouting and making disturbance was not allowed. This beautiful concept still prevails among the Sami.
